Principal's Message

Coming soon!

Norwood School families,

I am excited to introduce myself to you as the principal of Norwood Elementary School. I feel very honored to serve you in this capacity and am looking forward to meeting and working with you to provide the best possible education for your children.

I just completed my 18th year working for Stanly County Schools.  My career includes a variety of experiences: second grade teacher, literacy facilitator, assistant principal, middle school principal and central office director.  On a personal note, my husband and I are Stanly County natives and we have three grown children. An interesting fact is that my husband, children and I attended and graduated from North Stanly High School!

The Norwood staff genuinely cares for students and wants all students to be successful!  Teachers work diligently to provide authentic and challenging curriculum for students to learn, grow and develop skills needed to prepare them for grade level expectations.  Teachers treat students as individuals and provide learning experiences based on student needs. Staff are dedicated and committed to providing academic opportunities to motivate students for 21st century learning.

Collaboration with parents and the community is imperative for a positive and successful school year.  I encourage families to communicate with teachers and school personnel, as well as participate in family activities planned for the year.  We have an active PTO and welcome your support and involvement. Together we can do great things!

I look forward to an incredible school year!  My door is always open and I welcome your suggestions, ideas and concerns.  Together we can provide outstanding educational opportunities and academic excellence for all students.

Sincerely,

Jency Speight, Principal
